A Registration Office Wedding

You may wish to marry in the district where you and your partner live, but you don't have to. You can choose to marry in any Registration Office in England or Wales, as well as in Approved Premises. With so much choice, where do you begin? Fortunately Essex Registration Offices have something for everyone.

If you are planning a simple wedding, we have attractive, contemporary rooms. If you are looking for something more traditional, we have got historic buildings with a wealth of character. If you want a stylish background to your wedding you will find something to match your taste. Many of our offices have their own gardens for photography, while others are close to attractive public parks or gardens that are favourites with wedding photographers.

Most important of all, you will be dealing with people who know how to make your day really special. The staff of the Essex Registration Service pride themselves on making each wedding a unique experience to treasure.

Contact any of our offices and talk about the ceremony, your preferred choice of music, flowers and the photography. Or simply go and see for yourself. You will find the staff friendly and approachable and they will do their best to make your wedding day relaxed and enjoyable for everyone. For your own peace of mind, please contact us as soon as possible as you are more likely to get the location you really want.

All our offices give you the opportunity to make a provisional booking for your ceremony/registration up to 24 months in advance. The earliest you can legally enter your official notice is 12 months in advance of the ceremony/registration. A provisional booking can be made simply by telephoning, calling at the office of your choice or by written application.

Each office runs an individual programme of times for marriage ceremonies and you are advised to contact the Superintendent Registrar of the district in which you wish to marry to ascertain availability. The Superintendent Registrar will tell you of the requirements for giving formal notice of marriage and the documents needed.
